Sketches With Jaime

The ever gracious Jaime Hernandez offered up a free sketch for us. We told him it was for our neighbor who hated bugs. In return, a copy of 1985 was given to him:

U2 - I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight

A nice new animated video from U2 here. A great use of flash along with some 3D (not sure if this is through the new version of Flash which has 3D capabilities) or if it's some software hybrid. Created by David O Reilly!

Nineteen Eighty Five at El Nopal Press

Last fridays opening went really well and a big round of thanks to all of those who showed up. We even had comic book legend Joe Staton in the house, as well as a sighting of Folerio himself!

Territory Records

Though I think this might be my first actual 'food' entry on this blog, this spot had to be mentioned. Especially if you find yourself in the Downtown Los Angeles/ hip stronghold known as Silverlake. Territory Records has been around for a little over a month now, and is gathering a bit of good press.

A BBQ joint/record store seemed like a bit of a novelty at first, but a bite into the 'pulled pork sandwhich' (this is definetly not vegetarian fare) had me hooked. I purposely find myself driving by just to get a whiff of this stuff. Highly recommended.

The adjoining record store has a bit more work to. As a record buff from earliest memories, I'm a fan of musty rooms with endless crates of forgotten records. Huge dollar bins. This spot is more of a 'vinyl boutique' if you will. Sealed copies of classic records, that sort of a thing. Definetely worth taking a browse after a BBQ lunch.

Volume 2

Is in the works. While juggling numerous jobs, I'm finding time to try and sketch out a page a day (on a good day). The story is continuing from where it left off, and , offering up a somewhat more personal story and loads more characters.
