Brain Melt

A 12 page booklet is in the works for an upcoming LP (the title of this post should give a hint). This is a detail of a page of inks that are being done right now. Should be interesting to see how this turns out, and, looking forward to hearing the record as well.

Mask keyframes...

This shot that was filmed against green board, that didn't quite key out as well as it should've, needed to be cut out frame by frame. This was a hand that was shaking frantically, so, you can imagine the teduim involved in something like this.

If you put on some good music, have coffee close if it's late,it isn't too bad. Hopefully when the finished piece is posted, you won't even be able to recognize it.

Big Dog

"Watch the response at 21 seconds (it's just so "natural" looking) and the dexterity at 50 seconds. I'm curious as to how it would react to a more severe avalanche than they give it at 1:15 - of course, they don't include any failures in the videos" -Pete

Percee P - Put it on the Line

I'm not sure what movie this footage is taken from, but I'd be curious to know. It almost looks like a documentary. Mostly cut together with some performance shots of lyrical legend, Percee P.

Has been written about Chris Ware (including on here), but, this animated piece he created for This American Life is worth noting:

Golden Ticket Update

We're still working on the animation on some of the key shots. The live action footage has been shot, and, compositing has started. Some of the footage seems to need some color correction, which I'll leave to the experts.

We're trying out all sorts of methods in getting some life-like movement (the animation in this video resembles a sketchbook come to life). There's been a ton of stock video used for some of the referencing in this. Hopefully it'll give this the unique look that we're shooting for.

Greedy Hen

Had some Sydney folks stay at the house for the weekend, most of whom were on they're way to Austin. One of which was part of a Sydney based design collective know as Greedy Hen. The work is mostly collage with some custom illustration:

Most of the work I've seen them do is for music packaging , and some live installation. This music video by the Panics has their work in the background (that's actually being placed in the shots by the artists themselves.

They have a new website in the works as well that's worth looking out for.

Here's a couple of the prints that've been made over the years. Mostly as gifts, but, some have been commissioned. Usually I work with a still from a video, but, sometimes, the image is custom, which is a PhotoShop file, that's printed hi-res. And the foreground imagery is EPS. That gets printed on acetate, and, the back is painted with an opaque white, giving it an 'animation cell' look.

It's a pretty simple concept involving LP covers and a bit of costumery. These guys have had this site running a while, and we decided to submit a few pics of our own.
